Voicemail Advanced Options

Additional voicemail configurations and settings

Written by Ryan Lowe

In this article we will cover Advanced Options configuration for your voicemail box. This function is similar to that of an Auto Attendant, but it does differ a bit. The Options you setup can be defined very simply and can be used to enhance the way your customers interact with the voicemail box.

A few basic examples have been listed below, but they are not limited. Options could be setup to engage a support ring group, or allow you to have a hidden option to check your voicemail. The examples below can get you started!

Check Voicemail Option

In the above configuration example, you will be able to press one while your voicemail greeting plays to dial into the mailbox. Callers should not be privy to this option. The order can be set to 000 (default). Fill in your option number (1-9), then you can select voicemail from the options drop down, fill out a Description and then press Add. The server will take around 30 minutes to refresh these changes.

(Please note that when setting an option to check your voicemail it is important to not include that option in your voicemail greeting.)

Enable an On-Call or Emergency Cell Phone Option

In the above configuration example, you will be able to press two to engage the ring group that we created for this example. The ring group can be setup with an internal extension (101, 102, etc) or an external cell phone number (5555555555). You can customize your voicemail greeting to include this option. The order can be set to 000 (default). Fill in your option number (1-9), then you can select the ring group from the options drop down, fill out a Description and then press Add. The server will take around 30 minutes to refresh these changes.

Those are just a few examples, you can see below that we have setup options to check the voicemail, allow an on call ring group to be engaged, and setup an option to dial an internal extension directly.
