How to Setup Distinctive Ring Tones

This article describes how to setup a distinct ring tone matching different inbound caller ID numbers

The idea behind distinctive ring tones is to have a different ring tone play for different situations. Many customers want to have a different internal extension to extension ring tone from what they hear when someone from the outside calls. This article will explain how to properly set this up.

First, you will need to get the IP address from your phone. If you need assistance please follow this article. You will also need to gather the login password for the phone, which you can review how to gather by visiting this article.

Next, enter the phones IP address into the address bar of a web browser, press enter. the page that loads is your phones web interface. The default username is "admin" and the default password can be found via this article. Type in the credentials and press "Login"

Next, navigate to the Accounts drop down>Account 1>Call Settings

Next, under "Matching Incoming Caller ID" you can enter rules that allow different ring tones to play depending on who is calling. You can see 3 examples below in the screen shot.

In this example let's assume all of your internal extensions start with a 1, such as 101, 102, 103, and you want all of these to ring with a different tone than your main account ringtone. Set 1xx, the xx act as wild cards telling the phone to ring differently for any extension in the 100-199 range. This works exactly the same for 2xx, 3xx, 4xx, etc.
This example is if you want all 1800 numbers to have a different ring tone that is different from your main account ringtone. The last 7 numbers are all wild cards. Adjust appropriately to your needs.
