Bring Your Own Device: Grandstream WP820

Written by Ryan Lowe

Please note that only one SIP account is supported for the WP820

It's important that if this device was with a previous provider, that they remove the MAC address from their system.

To get started, we need to factory reset the WP820, afterwards you can now find the IP address to login from your computer.

Once you have the IP address, you can access the WP820 via that IP address from your web browser:

The default username is admin, and the password is admin as well:

Once you are logged in you can navigate to Maintenance > Upgrade, you will simply need to change the Firmware Server Path to firmware.grandstream.com, and ensure that Firmware Upgrade Mode is HTTP. Then click Save, and then Update Detect. Click OK to start up upgrade. The phone will then download and upgrade.

After the update, we can gather the MAC and Serial number. You can find your MAC and Serial from the web GUI from Network Status and System Info, or under the battery of the WP820.

Now we can update the BYOD order, please enter your MAC and Serial Number into the order.

After checking out please allow 10-15 minutes for the system to set everything up. After about 10-15 minutes, everything should be setup and you can connect the WP820 to your WiFi network.(Please note, that if you are entering the MAC and Serial after you have checked out, you can simply click 'Apply Changes' to get everything updated)

Please feel free to reach out to us via chat for any questions or concerns you might have.
