This guide will get you up and running with your new Voiply Home Adapter and Service! With just a few easy steps you can be making phone calls in no time!

Voiply Home Setup Video

Plug the Voiply Adapter into your Router via ethernet (the blue port on the Adapter).

Plug your existing analog phone line into the port on the back (the green port on the Adapter) and then plug the device into power.

When all the lights on the Adapter light up solid blue, you are ready to make calls! Please note that you will see the Adapter reboot twice times while it configures your account. (It can take up to 5 minutes to fully configure.)

Please be sure to disable your answering machine if your phone has one, the Voiply Home service routes all voicemail to the email setup on your extension.

SIP ALG Overview:

SIP ALG (Application Layer Gateway) is a mechanism found in most routers that rewrites packets transmitted across the device. Certain protocols are processed by the application layer gateway (ALG) and rewritten to allow better flow through a firewall or when NAT (Network Address Translation) is employed. The SIP protocol is one of several protocols managed by this system.

One of the most common issues with VoIP solutions relates to audio transmission and presence of a firewall and/or NAT traversal being configured. In many cases, a properly configured system may still have audio issues when transmitting or receiving calls where only one party is heard during a call. Implementing the necessary changes to disable SIP ALG can oftentimes resolve these issues.

||| Please note that faxing is not supported, only one SIP account per HT8XX, and only one FXS port is supported for the HT8xx series of phones with Voiply BYOD.

|| It's important that if this device was with a previous provider, that they remove the MAC address from thier system.

After performing a factory reset to the Adapter, you can now find the IP address to login from your computer.

||| Use a telephone connected to phone port of your HT8XX. Press *** (press the star key three times) to access the IVR menu and wait until you hear “Enter the menu option“. Press 02 and the current IP address will be announced.

Once you have the IP address, you can access the Adapter via that IP address from your web browser:

Once you are logged in you can navigate to Advanced Settings, you will simply need to change the Firmware Server Path to: firmware.grandstream.com, and ensure that the Upgrade via is HTTP. Also ensure Automatic Upgrade is set to yes.
